Teeth Whitening Products
Teeth whitening products have emerged as a blessing for those of us out there with yellow or stained teeth. Teeth whitening has become so popular that it seems like everyone is doing it.
Most of these teeth whitening products are available over-the-counter and at the dentist’s office.
But you have to remember that teeth whitening products are not for everyone, especially if you have had recent dental work or false teeth and they are not recommended for:
• Pregnant women or women who are breast-feeding children younger than age 16
• Or people with sensitive teeth or peroxide allergy or
• People with gum disease or worn tooth enamel.
Are These Products Effective
Teeth whitening products are effective for varying lengths of time depending upon the type of product it is. They are generally made of natural substances like herbs, leaves; or chemicals and synthetic compounds.
What Kind Of Products Are Available
Teeth whitening products are available in both paint-on applications and in trays that you place in your mouth.
• Teeth-Whitening Strips- How they work: Teeth-whitening strips are thin, almost invisible pieces of plastic coated with a whitening solution (usually a low concentration of hydrogen peroxide).
• Teeth-Whitening Gels- How they work: Designed to be painted directly on the teeth using a small brush or pen, teeth-whitening gels are typically peroxide-based.
• Teeth-Whitening Trays- How they work: Tray-based whitening systems involve filling a mouthpiece-like tray with a peroxide-based whitening gel. Teeth whitening is safe and carries no serious oral health side effects but some people may experience mild tooth sensitivity or gum irritation after bleaching.
What About Teeth Whitening At Home
Well, many people prefer to bleach their teeth at home, using one of the commercial teeth whitening gels easily available on the Internet, or which can be bought from the dentist. Teeth whitening kits (with paint-on applications and/or trays) tend to work best, followed by strips, and then toothpaste.
Teeth whitening products designed to be used at home without a dentist’s supervision usually contain lower concentrations of hydrogen peroxide as compared to the products used in a dentist’s office.
Have you ever looked at your favorite movie star and wondered what it is that gives him or her that sheen of perfection.
